It works on many levels. The model, the pose, the tonal range, emotive expression.
The Model is stunning, her nutral mouth position, presence of a cigarette, and her head rotated slightly, her eyes staring directly into the camera and thus the audience, makes me feel likes shes talking to me, and looking into my soul. A solid move, to bring any viewer into the picture.
A model sitting on the bed, is a time hounoured pose, while a little stale, here it works so well because of your composition and balanced tonal ranges, add the unusual body and arm position creates a new line, adding impact. Again drawing my eye up to the face almost unconciously
This is an image, i would put on my walls, one that i would enjoy looking at time and time again. This is a very classic masterwork.
You have a very good photographer. If these are self portraits you are extremely talented. This image is my favorite because of the stare, composition, depth of field, etc. The only thing I would lose is the cigaret. My eye keeps going to it and the your hand on your arm then out of the picture. Maybe some photo manipulation and add some smoke to draw the viewers eye back to your face to complete the circle (I'm not promoting smoking LOL). Great eyebrows - don't ever pluck them! I would love to do a graphite sketch this pose.
